Women and girls are often under-represented in the cycling community, with only 1 woman for every 3 men identifying as regular cyclists in the United States. So, to promote bicycling among women and help bridge this gender gap, Phoenix Bikes has a special program for women that meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month called “All the Cycle Ladies.” The monthly workshops have a specific theme, enabling participants to build a comprehensive riding and maintenance skill set. Sample workshop topics include fixing flats, adjusting brakes, shifting and gears, bike commuting, and group riding, among others. We look forward to growing this program in the coming year to help ensure bicycling is inclusive of all.
